Poem by James Wayne Sutton
Back in the days when I was young
Running the streets and having fun
Me and the boys were always together
We swore to God it would be forever
Never had much time for crime
We were busy scraping for a dime
Ya, a case of beer and a dime of weed
Was all we thought we'd ever need
We partied here and we partied there
I think we must have partied everywhere
Time seems to have turned its pages
It wasn't long ago, but it feels like ages
Now cops and robbers is the big game
Win or lose it's always the same
Momma cried, she really did try
To teach us the proper way to get by
But a short here, a short cut there
Never took the right way, just didn't care
Money in my hand was a big man
Saying look everybody who I am
Hotel, motel then get down
We always had lots of drugs around
Pretty girls came and pretty went
I could never count the money I spent
Now I sit in this stinking cell
Thinking is time not Hell
What am I doing, this isn't me
I should be out partying and free!!!!!!
