This picture is of the Perry family from the Gooseberry Islands in Newfoundland. It was taken around 1927, just after they moved to Vancouver, BC. In the picture are: My grandfather, Jacob Henry Perry, born October 3, 1876 on Gooseberry Islands, Newfoundland, and died January 9, 1951 on Vancouver, BC. Jacob Perry was known as "Captain Jake" in Newfoundland, as he was the captain of a fishing schooner on the Grand Banks. Jacob Henry Perry is holding son Robert Jesse Perry, my uncle, born November 24, 1925 on Gooseberry Islands, Newfoundland. Robert Jesse Perry is still living in Vancouver, BC. In the middle at the back is my aunt, Pearl Mary Perry, and she was born September 7, 1909 on Gooseberry Islands, Newfoundland. She died in 1980 in Vancouver, BC. In the middle at my front is my grandmother, Sarah Wells (Perry), born on the Gooseberry Islands in Newfoundland on November 23, 1884. She died in Vancouver, BC May 28, 1964. On the right side of the picture in the back is my aunt, Leah Perry, born August 28, 1917 on the Gooseberry Islands in Newfoundland. She died 2009 in Vancouver, BC. In the front at the right is my uncle, Freeman Wesley Perry, born December 9, between 1917 and 1925 (I'm not sure of the year) on the Gooseberry Islands, Newfoundland. He died in the beginning of the year 2010. Missing from the picture is my dad, Donald Perry, born November 13, 1911, also on the Gooseberry Islands, and died August 8, 1997 in Greenwood, BC. Also missing is Raymond Wilson Perry, born September 23, 1905 and died in Vancouver, BC (not sure of the date). Also missing is a son, Edgar Perry, who died at birth on the Gooseberry Islands. Edgar is buried on the Gooseberry Islands in Newfoundland. I believe that Jacob Henry Perry came to Vancouver along with his brother John Perry around the same time.   Submitted By: NULL
