When Boy Scout Troop 64 visited Newfoundland in 2003 we set out to find Buddy Wasisname. We started at the Tim Horton's in Gander, but he wasn't there. Then we went to Glovertown and went to the Town Hall and told them we were the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Buddy Wasisname Fan Club and we had come looking for Kevin Blackmore. Turned out he was fishing somewhere and had a performance in St. John's in a few days. We went on our way to the Scout Jamboree at Terra Nova. On Monday, who should pull into our campsite, but Buddy Wasisname along with Mrs. Wassername and their daughter. The Newfoundlanders couldn't understand why he wanted to know where the Scouts from Pennsylvania were. Our Scouts were planning to sing "Dear Mr. Ford" in the talent show at the Jamboree that night, so Buddy got out his guitar and rehearsed with the Scouts! We had a GREAT visit. We are coming back this summer and looking forward to all the wonderful things Newfoundland has to offer; the people, the scenery, the historic places, Buddy Wasisname and all the delicious foods you have that we can't get in Pennsylvania. (Moose, caplin, seal, cod tongues, partridgeberry jam, bakeapple jam, salt beef and all those Purity products) Thanks for the memories!
