Hello Downhome!

I moved to Ontario about 11 years ago. Recently I have been hearing many stories that Newfoundlanders are very upset about being called "Newfies!"

I, for one, am very proud to be called a Newfie. Almost anyone I've met, whenever I tell them I'm from Newfoundland or tell them I'm a Newfie, say one of two things: "Where's Newfoundland?" or they say something to the effect of..."Right on," "Yes By'"...or whatever.

There is only two ways it can go. It's either going to be a positive remark or a negative remark. I wash off the bad and cherish the good. Isn't there enough resentment and hate in this world now!

I am a 33-year-old "NEWFIE" from Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador that married a beautiful, caring and amazing woman from Port Colbourne, Ontario. She absolutely fell in love with Newfoundand and Labrador and luckily, me too!

Jamaica made us fell like home. An island, distinct food, rum, parties and of course, good people!
