Today, as I was at a thrift shop in the city where I live, we spent hours looking at all the cool stuff, dreaming of what we could buy if we had the money. My friend and I dreamed about what we could fix up to make it as good as new- like the really cool turntable chest we found!<br /> <br /> By the electronics, I saw something that caught my eye. Oh, I couldn't believe my eyes! A red Sanyo radio, completely identical to the one I had in my bedroom when I was a baby and well into my childhood. I was in shock as I marvelled over this radio that must be over 21 years old now.<br /> <br /> After taking a picture, posting it to Facebook and tagging my parents in it, I began to play with the knobs and buttons. All of a sudden I became three or four again, sitting on my bed, playing around with the radio. The memories flew back, it felt so real. This was the same model radio, I was so sure. The feeling of being transported back in time by touching the radio was incredible, I was back home. I even got validation from my mom- it was that radio!<br /> <br /> I went to my friend and sat down and told him about how shocked I was to see that radio. How it was a huge part of my early childhood. I had to have it. I had to go back and buy it. But as I looked back towards the radio, I saw another man looking at it and putting it to the side, as if he was interested in buying it. I wasn't sure if he'd buy it so I went back to take a look anyway.<br /> <br /> I walked over and played with the antenna. "You like the radio too? It's nice. It doesn't work but I'm gonna fix it," he said proudly.<br /> <br /> I told him how I had one just like it as a child, over twenty years ago. He told me about his admiration for Sanyo radios. I figured he really wanted it so I wished him a good day and left him to look at the radios. I sat on one of the chairs and, not long after, I saw him walk away with the radio in this hand.<br /> <br /> I won't lie, I was pretty bummed to see him walk away with it. I wanted it. It was part of my childhood and brought back so many memories. I was so happy to see it. But I let it get away from me. However, after chatting with my buddy about it, it made me realise something. I was just attached to those moments that I found so comforting. But the thing is, those moments are gone! I wouldn't really ever get them back, I would only have the memories, which I carry with me. I don't need a radio for that. Although it's still pretty cool.<br /> <br /> All in all, I hope the man gets the radio working. It's a pretty good radio. I hope he puts it to good use. And I really hope he makes some great memories with it, like I had with mine.
