Ode to Mister Muskrat
Ode to Mister Muskrat I was sound asleep, Tucked in for the night When I woke to a racket, I was full of fright. Nosy me I have to see Just what could that racket be. Jumped out of bed and down the hatch, I'll show you, you met your match. Not a sound, not a peep, now I am going to bed to have some sleep. Just falling off into a doze, Oh darn there is that noise. Grab my mitts to keep warm, Picked up the shovel, I was ready for war. There he was bold as brass, Chewing away at the cellar window glass. I was ready for the kill, Up went the shovel down on his head, I'm very sure that rat is dead. Don't come around in the middle of the night, Or you may get the scare of your life. -Evelyn Langille Big Tancook Island Submitted By: NULL
