Ode to Doctor’s Harbour
"Ode" to Doctor's Harbour
The harbour's very quiet now
the folks have gone to rest
they worked hard in their younger years
they did their very best.
They worked hard for a living
from the land and from the sea
there's a place in heaven I know
that is where they should be.
Twas nice to walk that lonely cove
that nice warm sand between your toes
laugh and sing and carry on
just like we did when we were young.
We've grown since then
we've parted ways
I knew back then you wouldn't stay
I knew you were the traveling kind
I turned one day and you were gone.
You talked of places you might see
far across that dark blue sea
I'll ask the good Lord up above
If He knew what happened to our love.
