Oceans of Dreams
Oceans of dreams
By Barbara Reynolds Somers
Droplets of rain pricked her face as she listened to
The mumbling sea. Standing high on a
Cliff, as she watched the sky turn a tapestry
Of vivid colors.
The ship seemed to smash the mirror of
The sea as it manoeuvered over the white
Mist gliding its way near the lip of
The beach.
It seemed to float like minuscule clouds on
Its journey, bobbing up and down in a
Sea of kelp. Then suddenly, the sky
Over the Atlantic, turned pistachio green.
The ship’s horn echoed in the distance as
A gentle breeze stirred the sea; and then, the
Rain turned a glitter of diamonds on
Her fragile skin.
She felt as though she were that ship riding
Against the clouds and floating over
The swell of the tide. Then she awoke to
The sounds of robins and the beginning of
A brand new day.
