Norway Trip
After a 26-year absence, I was finally able to realize my dream of going back to Norway to visit my relatives. My cousin has a summer home on the only saltwater fjord on the west coast of Norway, just outside of Haugesund. My husband and I are Newfoundlanders by choice. We came here for a vacation in 2005 and fell in love with the scenery and the people. We decided to leave Ontario in 2006 and took up residence in Whitbourne and have no regrets. I especially love Newfoundland because the landscape reminds me of Norway. The one disappointment is that we have never been able to fish for cod. Not so in Norway. On my first day out on the fjord I caught my first cod. The next time I got a cod was right off the dock. Catching my cod was the highlight of a wonderful trip. Submitted By: Laila Bergquist-Turner
