Harry T. Newman was born at St. Carol's, NF to Triton native George and Grace (nee Mugford) Newman. The family moved back to Triton before Harry enlisted in the 10 Contigent of the Royal Navy (#216762). During the war he was injured and spent 5 1/2 years in hospital in a body case before being discharged. For his injuries he was awarded the Kings Badge for service. He married an English Bride, May Sistersend. In 1952 he returned to Newfoundland where he raised his 2 children.
