Newfoundland Weather Cure
I originally wrote this poem in Level 2 or 3 at Stephenville Integrated High. I have changed it somewhat but for the most part it is the same. That was about 12 years ago. It is purely fictional and meant to be humorous. Hope you like it!
Newfoundland Weather Cure
Living here in Newfoundland
Among the trees and rocks
You'd never think you'd survive
Without your woolly socks
No weather here's predictable
It's never what you expect
The weather's always changing
We have no greenhouse effect
Now I'll tell you 'bout me brudder
He's always very ill
Every time the weather changes
He has to take his pill
Well, this one time when he ran out
He asked me for some more
So me and my friends went outside
And made our way to the store
But when we got outside the house
The air was nice and warm
"Let's go for a swim" I said to them
Another hour won't do him no harm
And as we made our way down
To our secret swimming spot
The air suddenly began to chill
And it wasn't quite so hot
"We can't go swimmin' now" I said
"It's getting much to cool'"
So over I went behind the rock
And got my fishin' pole
By the time I got my line geared up
The wind began to blow
I looked up into the sky
And it began to snow
Me and my friends jumped and cheered
"Let's go and get my sled!"
When I walked back in the house
Me poor Brudder, he was dead!
Well now I'm old and working hard
And one thing is for sure
I'm gonna make for Brudder's sake
A Newfoundland weather cure.
