In Newfoundland, a sight anew,

Pussywillows bud, a sign so true,

Their fuzzy paws, a calming shade,

Bearers of hope, that will not fade.

They are my momma's favourite bloom

They banish winter's cold grey gloom

With their promise of light and hope

No longer have we with winter to cope.

Their fuzzy paws shimmer in the sun

They are so soft, and yet so strong

They bring us hope and joy to know:

Spring is herev - its signs they show.

The earliest harbingers of spring

With glee we shout and even sing,

"Spring is coming- I can see

Pussywillow buds upon that tree!"

So let us bask in the coming season,

The pussywillow buds can be our reason,

For joy and wonder, for hope and love,

A time to cherish, sent from above.
