Newfies in Maine
Newfies came from all over the US for the Annual Newfie Picnic in Lisbon, Maine held at the home of Steve and Daphne (Adams) Izer in July. It was a reunion for many, with some attending for the last 30+ years. There were wannabes and honorary Newfoundlanders. The Screech-in ceremony and appearance of the mummers were big hits. Many NL dishes were totally enjoyable. 82-year-old Betty Puddicomb who has not been home in years stated "your kitchen table is as close as I will ever get to 'back home,'"The Squid Jiggers entertained with Newfie and Irish tunes and we all had a great "scuff."
