Never to old to care
Monday morning started out with a bit of excitement when this baby moose
came out of the woods in my parents garden. The happiness of seeing her slowly turned into worry when we could see that there was something wrong with her. She started banging into things.
We soon realized she couldn't see. We're assuming her mom had either been killed
or left her because she was sick.
She ran on the road a few time then back into the garden again
and went in the woods just behind my parents house and got stuck in the trees.
By this time the wild life officer had been contacted and was on the way.
My dad being a avid moose hunter for the last 50 years, never thought this day would end with watching over a baby moose in the pouring rain after everyone else left, for an hour and half, he stayed in the woods trying to comfort her while waiting for the officer to come. The day ended sadly with her having to be put down.
Watching my mom and dad talk to this animal has if she could understand them was heart warming and amazing to see.

Monday Aug 5 2017
Gander Bay
Bonnie and Gordon Blake Submitted By: Trish Francis
