Nelson Keefe is turning 95 on November 26th and he is the oldest man alive born in Lower Little Harbour Twillingate, in 1920. We want to honour him and all of his greatness. He is the kindest person and I'm so lucky to be related to him. The cool part of this is that my dad, Eugene Keefe, who was born in 1958 is the last person to be born in Lower Little Harbour.

You would never know upon meeting him that he is turning 95. He walks through the trails around his house no problem. He also spends hours in his shop out back creating the greatest little trinkets out of wood.

He has 20 great-grand children from his 8 grandchildren. My kids love visiting him because he tells them stories and when he does he makes you feel like you are part of it. He is such a knowledgeable man. There is so much history in the things he tells you.

He was married in 1942, which was 67 years ago, unfortunately my grandma passed away in 2009. They raised their 5 children in Lower Little Harbour but eventually moved their home by pulling it across the ocean into Little Harbour in 1963. In 1992 their house caught fire and burnt to the ground. Their community was amazing and helped them to get back on their feet.

I'm flying in from Winnipeg in November with my parents and 2 of my children to celebrate his 95th birthday. I can't wait to hear him whistling and saying "oh my." My dad has raised us to be proud of our Newfoundland roots and because of my grandpa and my family that live there I am.   Submitted By: NULL
