Smart, kind, generous, loving. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think of my nannie, Norma Clarke. Throughout her life she had worked very hard and never let anyone or anything get her down. 59 years of marriage to my poppy, Ralph Clarke, five children, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren later and she is still the strongest woman I have ever known. Being a proud Newfie, Nannie and Poppy have taken each of us to Newfoundland for a summer where we visited tons of family and learned all about our heritage, a trip I know each of us will cherish forever.

The reason I wrote this letter, however is not to brag about how amazing, spectacular and wonderful my Nannie is; it is to thank her for being such a strong and positive female influence she has been in not only mine, but all my cousins, aunts, uncle & father’s lives. She is forever thinking of us and putting us first in everything she does. I couldn’t imagine a holiday passing by without a mouth-watering Jiggs' dinner boiling away in the kitchen, two and a half dozen people smiling and laughing while our Nannie herself bustles around making sure everyone has 10x more to eat than they should!

We love you always Nannie, and even if we have to take a million and one more family pictures, it’s all worth it just to see you as happy as you have always made us.   Submitted By: NULL
