These members from Newfoundland take the time to read the Downhome magazine while applying their specialized skills to promote, protect and maintain the health of coalition soldiers in Afghanistan. These Newfoundlanders are all members of the Mission Transition Task Force (MTTF) deployed to Kandahar Airfield in southern Afghanistan. Reuniting with friends and family after months of separation and hard work will be met with excitement as they return home for the holidays. The Health Services Unit of the MTTF is a diverse team consisting of almost 80 members practicing many different professions and trades including medical technicians, doctors of various specialties, dentists, nurses, supply technicians, preventive medicine technicians, health care administrators, and a pharmacist. The HSU provides health services to CF personnel while conducting closure activities for all Canadian health services elements.
