Mystic North <br /> <br /> The sunsets in this haunting land<br /> Die in silence and all alone<br /> There is not a whisper, not a stir<br /> A lovely mystic land I concur<br /> <br /> Gigantic mountains grasp for sky<br /> Cold and dark, and still as death<br /> And valleys vast sweep out of sight<br /> A scene so awesome and of might<br /> <br /> And rivers vast with deafening roar<br /> Pass through the landscape by the score<br /> And unknown destinations seek<br /> To receive them there week after week <br /> <br /> The silence there so deafening<br /> You can literally hear your thoughts cascade<br /> Down the limitless space sublime<br /> Would I could make this country mine<br /> <br /> A land so haunting and mystique<br /> Has attracted poets its worth to extol <br /> And many have tried in vain it seems<br /> To give due credit to a scene so serene<br /> <br /> And some who may have spent their time<br /> Enfolded in that treasured land<br /> Might rightly wish on final demise<br /> To end their days neath those blissful skies<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> John Cornick<br /> Halifax, Nova Scotia<br /> Feb 29, 2016<br />   Submitted By: John Cornick
