My Mother
Below is a poem I wrote for my mother, Lucy Pretty of Chapel Arm, T.B. She has long passed but she will always be remembered for her love for her children and compassion.
I was wondering if it is suitable for publishing in Downhome magazine .
My Mother
My Mother was a cook made cakes and cookies too
My Mother was a doctor when we were sick and had the flu.
My Mother was a counsellor when we were a bit confused
My Mother was a seamstress made new clothes from the used
My Mother was a teacher taught us to read, write and spell
My Mother was a house maid at which she done so well
My Mother was a farmer sowed seeds and milked the cows
My Mother was a carpenter when things need fixing now
My Mother was a painter with brush the walls with colour hue
My Mother was an artist hooked mats and crocheted too.
My Mother was a beautician put the girls' hair up in curls
My Mother was a barber heads bald unlike the girls
My Mother was a lawyer deciding who was right
My Mother was a clergyman our prayers were said at night
My Mother was a gardener with flowers splendor bloom
My Mother was a pest controller would face the devil with a broom
My Mother was a veterinarian a bird with broken wing will mend
My Mother was an banker to budget for money she could not spend
My Mother was a mother with a gentle smile and a warm heart
My Mother like your mother will be forever in my heart
