1. WHERE'S THE BEST PLACE TO EAT? - Since Valley Pond has a population of approximately 100, a short drive to Virgin Arm is required to eat at none other than the Dildo Run Snack Bar. Opened only during the summer months, it is to die for. Newfoundlanders crave those wedge fries and messy chicken burgers and can't wait to get "back home" for a scoff!

2. WHERE'S THE BEST VIEW LOCATED? Everyone knows "the scrape." It's the hill back of Nan's house with a wonderful view and smell of the salt water.

3. WHAT'S THE LOCAL CLAIM TO FAME? See attached picture. This picture is actually of my nan's house and was not only in the local newspaper (the Pilot) but also popular in Downhome and made the front cover of your calendar! People came from all over the east coast to see this iceberg - Nan's driveway had never seen so much traffic!

4. WHAT'S THE MOST POPULAR ACTIVITY OR EVENT/FESTIVAL? It hasn't happened yet but Valley Pond doesn't know what's coming for it. Summer 2013 brings home all offspring of Giles Rideout (my great grandfather). All aunts, uncles and cousins will have a weekend to catch up and meet, some for the first time. With a potluck, cook up on the rocks (weather permitting), a dance at the local community hall, church on Sunday and great grandfather Gile's famous fish n' bruise! With approximately 40 first cousin's plus spouses and their children...Valley Pond will never be the same! Once everyone found out about this reunion, those that aren't even offspring are planning a vacay home next summer - just to reunite. It'll be Valley Pond's Coming Home Year for sure!

5. WHAT'S YOUR BEST KEPT SECRET? The peace and quiet and relaxation! The smell of the saltwater and absolute serenity and love of family. The comfort of knowing everyone and everyone always being happy to see you home!
