My Beauty
I always enjoy your magazine, especially the poems, pictures of nature, and town of Newfoundland. After my retirement I started teaching music and writing poems and rhymes of my life experience. I have published three books, and others not published. Enclosed you will find four copies from my second book. I hope one meets the Downhome enjoyment and pleasure for publication.
My Beauty
She is big at the bottom,
And little at the top;
Gathered in at the middle
With a long neck.
I think she is beautiful,
She may not agree;
When I hold her in my arms,
And set her on my knee,
I squeeze her and hug her
And hold her close to me;
She fits so comfortable in my arms,
I want none but she.
She is not always quite in tune.
But I am just a man;
I tighten this and slacken that,
And do the best I can.
I’m getting older every day,
I hope she understands;
I cannot treat her just the same,
As when a younger man.
I like to keep her close to me.
Morning, noon and night;
I pluck her strings and listen me
It makes me feel just right.
She is never sassy to me;
Except when not tuned right;
Then I tighten this and slacken that,
It makes her sound just right.
She’s the one I’ve loved
All throughout my life,
Nobody can come between
I keep her clean and shiny
Never a spot to be seen
I love her in the morning
At noon and through the night;
She lies on my bed completely nude
What a beautiful sight…
