Mummers Arrive in Lisbon, Maine
The arrival of the mummers was one of the highlights of the annual Newfie Picnic held in July in Lisbon, Maine at the home of Steve and Daphne (Adams) Izer. Fruitcake and "syrup" was served to them. Marg Flaherty (centre) arrived right from the Rock as a lone mummer complete with her ugly stick. Newfies came from all over New England, New Brunswick, Alberta and NL. Four wannabees got "screeched in" who feel privileged to be Honorary Newfoundlanders. Among the delicacies served were fish and brewis, pea soup, peas pudding, maple leaf baloney and date squares, as well as numerous Purity products. Many "yarns" were told and all of them were true b'y. We all are looking forward to getting together again next summer for a scoff and a scuff. Submitted By: Daphne Izer
