When I was a young girl growing up on the Northern Peninsula in the small community of Englee, our family at Christmastime carried out the tradition of mummering, or as we used to call it, janning. My dad was a gifted accordion player so each Christmas we would get dressed up and off we would go for a great night of fun. I moved to Halifax 18 years ago but I still keep my Newfoundland traditions and memories close to my heart. This year I made a mummer tree to share with my friends, and also as a tribute to my dad who taught us the love for music and never to forget your roots.I hope you like it.   Submitted By: Treena Newman
