I always enjoy your magazine, especially the poems, pictures of nature, and town of Newfoundland. After my retirement I started teaching music and writing poems and rhymes of my life experience. I have published three books, and others not published. Enclosed you will find four copies from my second book. I hope one meets the Downhome enjoyment and pleasure for publication.

Muddy Gull-Ease

Life’s quiet and fragrant things,
Morning hush, before the robin sings;
The silence of the break of day,
A running brook, where fish do play.
The softness of a gentle breeze,
Misty rain on the window pain;
Seem to quiet all my life’s strain,
The wind now sways the evergreens,
The pleasantness of Muddy Gullies.

The quiet time, a lawn so green,
A stream nearby runs so tranquil;
Late evening quiet and still,
The sound of loons – sure to thrill;
Silent wonders of the evening sky,
Jets above go streaming by;
Night time now settles in,
The feelings of content and ease,
The pleasantness of Muddy Gullies.
