Mrs. Miles to the Rescue!
"It was in 1976 when I was in Grade 1 and going to the old Ebsary Elementary School in Long Pond, CBS. All of my class looked forward to story time, when the teacher would let us sit on the floor at the back of the room while she read to us. This particular day, while sitting there, I felt someone or something tug on my long braided hair. I elbowed my classmate, Todd, in the ribs, thinking he was yanking on it... and then I shook my head so he'd let go. I heard a small 'clunk' sound behind me. I had been sitting back on to a waste paper basket. I sat up and looked in. There, at the bottom of the basket, was a little mouse! Of course, I (and the whole of the class) freaked out. Mrs. Miles, who taught in the classroom next door, heard the ruckus and burst in wondering what had happened. Upon hearing about the mouse, she disappeared out of the room and bounded back in with baseball bat in hand. She leapt toward the bin, and thrust the bat into it... CHUNK!! Well, that was the end of the mouse - and the excitement. My apologies to Todd...and thank you, Mrs. Miles, wherever you are!" Submitted By: NULL
