Mom Mam Cymru
I enjoy the Downhome. Nice to read how other people enjoy living. This poem was written by my late wife Barbara.
Mom Mam Cymru
In my dreams I often see it
That lovely small green island
That lies so many miles across the sea
And though for many years I've wandered
I've sat and thought and pondered
There's no better place for me than
Dear old Anglesey
I need no picture postcards
To remind me of its beauty
Of the stately hills and cosy valleys
Where silver waters run so free
And what I'd give for one sweet moment
To breath my fill of air near sea
When the stormy winds of winter
Lash the coast with all their fury
And the white capped waves beat wildly
At the crags and rocks and heads
The gulls and puffins screech in anger
Their world a blustery disarray
Across the bay the mountains
Lift their stately heads
To survey the beauty that lies below
The sparkling waters of the Menai gently flow
As I rock softly on my porch
The silvery moon throws down its light
The sights I've seen do not compare
To those I saw in childhood days
Now my dream is ended
No matter where I roam
The thoughts of Mom Mam Cymru
Will always take me home
By Barbara (Dingley) Blackmore
