When Christmas came in days of yore
Sometimes it was spent on distant shores
Times haven't changed much these days
Now Christmas is spent up away

Moms and Dads, daughters and sons
Spend Christmas in places without anyone
They dream of Christmas back on the Rock
Of trees and presents and a mantle with socks

To sit with the family and have a great meal
Some people think it is no big deal
But for those who are living up away
What they would give to be there Christmas day

We'll be down next days off or early next summer
But missing Christmas back home is still a bummer
We'll do what we can to make it through
