Memories of Home at Christmastime
It’s that time of the year and my thoughts always stray
To my island home across the waves
The years have gone by too quickly it seems
Now memories of home are beautiful dreams
Dear ole mudder in the kitchen bakin' up a storm
Dad stokin' the wood stove to keep us all warm
The tree in the front room all shiny and bright
Course we only turned on the lights Christmas night
Jigs and reels by the dozens from friends dropping by
For Dads Christmas cheer and Moms rabbit pie
They'd be tappin' their toes and not a minute too soon
Dad waltzin' with mudder all over the room
We'd be clappin' our hands and enjoying the fun
Cause that's the way our Christmas was done
Waiting for Santa never took long
We were fast asleep once the company was gone
Christmas was so much fun back then
And I wish I could go back and do it again
Those were the best times I've ever had
Back home on The Rock with Mom and Dad
