Memories
Tonight my memories take me back
To a time so out of touch
To a place when as a little girl
I learned to love so much
It's just a little island
But oh, it stands so grand
It stole a corner of my heart
My own dear Newfoundland
Its rocky shores they beckon to me
The white caps breaking high
The willowy clouds sailing free
In a clear, unbroken sky
The whispering winds still call to me
And the scent of new-mown hay
The feeling that the world is right
At the close of every day
No place on earth will you find
That God is close at hand
Than on that lovely isle
My own dear Newfoundland
