Louisbourg
I wrote this poem for Louisbourg, N.S., to which I moved from Francais in 1952.
Louisbourg
L is for our liberty that lives across this land.
O is for our oceans that flow, unchecked by man.
U is for the unity that unites us shore to shore.
I is for the island, Cape Breton evermore.
S is for her snow-covered peaks.
B is for her bogs and fens.
O is for her great outdoors, whose beauty we can't transcend.
U is for the untamed glens, on which I love to roam.
R is for our refuge, this land we're proud to own.
G is for all you've given us, God.
I give my thanks to Thee.
