Lost
Lost within,
Alone in a barren land
Caught between time's shifting sand.
With tooth and hand clenched
In sweat and hardship drenched
In wasted agony spent
Wrestling that which is
And that which could have been.
Future as cloudy as the past
To which all things are cast;
Interpreted of what is the now
In insidious torment to bow
With twisted flesh and bone
Never again to be as one.
Covered in the sky's eternal black night
With not a glimpse of heavenly light
Never in freedom to take flight,
But chained to life's hideous circumstance
In pain of heart, soul and mind
Forever to all things, made blind.
