Loop and Speeder
Ron’s 1000 ft. long railway is a complete circle that rings his cabin in Howley. Most of the heavy labour and track building was done by Ron himself. The rail is 70 pounds to a yard originally laid on the NFLD Railway main line in the 1920s under the supervision of General Manager Herbert Russell. Photo by Mike Shufelt. On it is a “speeder;” they were used by section crews to travel to different locations on the line to work on track and also on the fire patrol. Submitted By: NULL
