Looking For Our Newfie Roots
My sister and I were both born and raised in Ontario. My sister, Susan Smart, was born in 1958 and raised by her maternal grandparents. I was born in 1960 and was put up for adoption. After many years of searching, Sue and I have been reunited. It has been very exciting for me to finally connect with my full birth sister. Our mother's name is Joan Marie Smart. The information that we have states that our birth father was from Newfoundland, and worked on the lake boats in Ontario from 1957 to 1959. He and my mother resided together for awhile, then split up for a bit, then tried it again and eventually split up for good. Our birth father was born in Newfoundland in 1936. He was 5'10" tall, with a medium build and wavy dark hair. He had blue eyes and a medium complexion and was the oldest of a large family. He would be approx. 75 years of age now. Both of us have established families now, and are just interested in finding our Newfoundland heritage. I personally have been to Newfoundland on several occasions, and have a real connection with the province. I have a step-daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren living in Clarenville. Any information would be helpful. Submitted By: NULL
