Looking Back
A poem that my sister wrote after the birth of her baby boy. Being the loving, understanding, thoughtful, passionate mother who wanted to express that love for her son. It is actually pretty good, and I thought maybe it could be published in your magazine.
Looking Back
Written for my son Stanley
I can't believe five years have passed.
Since the day that you were born.
You came into this world so small.
Your father cut your cord.
I watched you for the longest time.
So tiny and so new.
It's like my motherly instinct kicked in.
Because I knew, just what to do.
I held you oh so close to me.
While I counted fingers and toes.
I held your little hand in mine.
And kissed your little nose.
We named you Stanley Joseph
A strong and noble name.
Joseph is your middle name.
Your father has the same.
We raised you to be polite and caring
We taught you how to share.
And every day we like to show you.
Just how much we care.
Today we are so proud of you
You've come a long long way.
We've watched you learn, and play, and grow.
Each and every day.
In years to come, you'll grow and grow.
To be a nice young man.
I know you will try, to be the best
person that you can.
I hope that you look back one day.
At all the fun we've had.
And know how much we love you
Love your Mommy and your Dad.
