Look For The Helpers!
Mister Rogers said it best.Look for the helpers. When I look back on my 68 years of life I seem to do it more frequently these days.I remember fondly the people who helped me Up When I fell down.I think of Roy borrowing his Uncles School Bus and taking us kids from the Garden Party around the Harbour to play at the New Playground.Sister Anne St Croix who took our whole Class to see Jesus Christ Super Star at The Avalon Mall.My first time in a Theatre and I loved it.The Mess Manager who picked me to serve The Admiral and all he wanted was a Glass of Apple Juice and I got paid 50 Bucks for my service back in 81..The friend who called another friend and got me in The Air Force. The Ship’s Captain who made a Call to get me posted to Royal Roads. My Parents who would let us use the Master Bedroom when we visited. The Taxi Driver who would pick up my Drum Sticks at Echo Music in St John’s.A Year before I retired from the Service they were going to Post me.My Colonel made a call to my Career Manager for me and I got to stay put.All the People who picked us up when we were Hitch hiking to the Clubs in our Teens. The Home Care Clients who were so hospitable and shared a Cuppa Tea and a Biscuit and a Chat.My friend Brenda who helped tie my Shoes in School. Finally my sister taught me the left handed way.It works great.Shoe Laces don’t care if you are left handed or right handed. My Brother and his Partner who put us up when we visit. When I worked Security for The Calgary Police and if they had meetings with In house Catering Service. They always brought me a Plate of Food .There was an Irish Contracting Company who had a Contract at The Water Treatment Plant for the City of Calgary. Those Guys brought me Coffee daily. My wife and son are very kind and helpful.I believe over everything else in Life.Kindness and caring for each other are the two things I cherish the most.I realise this is about me and it seems to be a Subject I am most familiar with today..The Great I am.
