Our granddaughter Lily, made her first trip ever to Newfoundland, in August 2025. We took her sightseeing from Salvage to Sandringham on the Eastport Peninsula, then Robert’s Arm to Beachside and Rattling Brook in Green Bay. She fell in love with sinking her toes into the white sands of Eastport beach, and the brown sands of Sandy Cove beach. She embraced the crashing ocean waves on Burdens Beach in Salvage and she ran up and down the flight of stairs at Back Cove Beach near Beachside, while two little dachshunds chased her along every beach walk.
We stayed overnight with my parents in Robert’s Arm where we walked the Hazelnut Hill Trail loop and later hung out on the beach, watching the sun set over Crescent Lake. Lily enjoyed numerous Newfoundland meals and she had a blast picking fresh strawberries on a farm for her very first time.
Our highlight experience was an epic boat tour with Trinity Eco Tours in Trinity. Lily (and I) saw our first puffins on a little secluded island. Our boat ventured into long dark sea caves with low ceilings and clear aqua green waters and we toured around various old settlements and even an old movie set. Our skipper had a glorious tale for each and every site and sound. It was an immersive experience we will always cherish.
Lily loved her time in Newfoundland so much that she’s already planning her summer 2026 trip. We are hoping her younger sister,  Presley, will join her, but Lily says she wants to keep Newfoundland, and us, all to herself! We shall see…
