Lieutenant William A Grace of 10 Knight Street, St. John's Newfoundland. Parents were John P. Grace and Caroline Grace. William (called Will) was born on September 29, 1896. He enlisted when he was 19 years old on March 13, 1916. He suffered gunshot wounds to his back and side. Listed as wounded and missing April 14, 1917. He was captured in Arras, France on April 14 1917. He was a POW of Karlsrhue Camp, Baden, Germany (noted for being the worst POW camp operated by the Germans) from April, 1917 - February 15, 1919. He was released from prison, sent to Liverpool and then on to Halifax and home by the end February, 1919. April 4th, 1919 Officially retired from service.   Submitted By: NULL
