Lesson From a Broken Dream
as i sit here today, and begin to ponder
my mind thinks of you, and begins to wander.
the fear of rejection, the fear of regret
the hardship of knowing i will never forget.
i can see you so clear your eyes may be blue
your hair may be brown if only i knew.
i know in my heart, my mind, and my soul
without you i surely will never be whole.
you are out there somewhere and waiting for me
all you ask for in life is a loving family.
we will find each other someday, somehow
it may not be soon, and it may not be now.
i look for you daily, time has turned into years
i never lose sight even through all my tears.
for you are a dream that has not yet come true
i will never give up, i'll keep searching for you.
i know god has chosen a path for my life
i may have to be content just being a wife.
for someday i believe that you will be there
you may be a neighbor, or friend i hold dear.
you may even be already part of my life
too consumed by emptiness that cuts like a knife.
someday your presence to me may be known
you remember the kindness, and love i had shown.
you may teach me a lesson i will never forget
the whole person i am less the child i didn't get.
