Leave No Trace
Lewis Hills, located between Stephenville and Corner Brook, is a place to see the power of the landscape and offers hikers an intimate look at a beautiful landscape that looks more like Arizona than Newfoundland. The rust-coloured peridatite mountains range is an ideal place to experience nature at its best and to connect with the natural world. On Canada Day weekend a group of backpackers called Bogwalkers from Stephenville spent three days hiking in these hills, which are a part of the Long Range Mountains. Our destination was Cabox, which at 815 m, is the highest point in insular Newfoundland. At the summit the view is spectacular and a place to breathe the mountain air and experience the feeling of pure openness and freedom. Submitted By: Aiden Mahoney
