Our three daughters have been cadets with the 2910 Army Cadet Corp in New-Wes-Valley. Here is one of the poems that Robin and Megan have written for Rememberance Day over the past few years.

Least We Forget

I won’t forget those who died,
Nor can I forget those who survived.
Oh the terror they had to go through,
How they did what they thought they had to.
Thanks to them we are free,
No need to hide, no need to flee,
No need to sleep and wake in fear,
No more danger, worrying, or tears.

They sacrificed so much for everyone,
Some their lives, their freedom, their guns.
Helped others escaped from prison,
And to hear someone crying was a good enough reason,
For their bravery to say, “End this war!
The battles, the terror, the hurt, no more!”
Leaving behind their loved ones for a fight,
Some never returned, some came back unharmed and alright.

The veterans that stand before us today,
And others in heaven, we’ll remember everyday.
The monuments that stand for the soldiers we loved,
The veterans here with us, and those above.
I am very grateful to all of them,
Who risked their lives for future friends,
Who’s bravery took them to the wars,
Some to die and never be seen no more.

Thanks to all those brave men,
And a thanks to all brave women,
Who risked their lives to save another,
Families, friends, sisters, and brothers.
So when you pass a veteran today,
Say thank you for your bravery through those difficult days,
And the veterans will smile I’ll bet,
For all those soldiers, LEAST WE FORGET.
