There is nothing nicer
Than the sound of laughter,
Whether it comes with a roar
Or bursts forth in gentle ripples
From a receptive audience.
For a moment a modern devil
Known as "Stress" is forced to flee,
And the relaxation of laughter
Calms mind and soul and body.
We must find more time to laugh.
It is the language of all peoples everywhere;
It is the non-violent peaceful answer
To all anxieties;
It is the "oil of gladness"
In a world of grief;
It is God's gift
A soothing salve for all man's sorrows:
And it is your gift.
