knots and splices

One of your readers, Joe Laberge, expressed interest in seeing readers favorite rope work. I have attached a photo of my father's knot board (Howard Davis). He is now deceased but his hobby during his retired years was knot tying. Being a Leading Seaman with the Royal Navy during WW11 and a Boy Scout leader for many years knot tying as a hobby was a good fit. If this is of interest to you I have attached a photo of one of his knot boards. Each knot and splice is named directly on the board. I have also attached a list naming each knot/splice by row (L to R).
My father did not always include the names directly on the board. On some he numbered the knots and included a sheet of paper bearing a list of names to correspond with the numbers. The board I have in my possession is numbered and unfortunately the list was misplaced over the years. I had to do a little research to identify some of the knots. A couple of names are questionable.
As for listing the use of each knot and how to tie it the best source would be the internet. There are a number of websites available with this information.

Thank you,

Susan Submitted By: Susan Davis
