Kenneth Coulter – War Remembered

Kenneth Coulter – War Remembered

I lived in a senior's apartment for five years. I came up with the idea of an afternoon tea (once a month), and had to provide entertainment (all made up). We had a Remembrance Day tea. I made a war memorial out of cardboard; the soldier was bought at the Dollar Store. Doris Rideout, from Bell Island, and Edythe Fergerson helped me put the war memorial together. I went on the Internet to see how it was done. Our Program: 26 people came (it was in the building) Edythe Fergerson read about the Newfoundland Regiment from World War I. Margaret Crocker told the story of "Taps" and how it came about. Doris Rideout read "Flanders Field." As she was reading it, everyone laid their poppies on the memorial. We want to share this with others. So many people read Downhome. The Story of "Taps" is very interesting. To Make the War Memorial: Glue, cardboard, knife, measuring tape, bubble wrap We used the bubble wrap on the memorial, leaving front panel plain, to write the names of our war vets on.
