The Downhome Magazine has  travelled to many places far and wide, North and South and many points East and West. It has touched many peoples' lives. But I think this is the first time that the Downhome Magazine has touched one of the greatest symbols of Canadian sports history. Let me tell more: This past July 31/05, I had the good fortune to meet Mike Bolt (known in hockey circles as The Keeper of the Cup) and Lord Stanley's Mug itself, at the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in this city. Mike was touring with the Cup to various locales as is the annual NHL summer tradition to do, so that hockey fans can get up close and personal with this world famous trophy. Mike Bolt, he of white gloves fame, is the NHL's Hockey Hall of fame representative who parades the Cup to centre ice each spring for the President of the League to award it to the Captain of the winning team of the playoff finals.  As luck would have it, I had my trusty Downhome Magazine with me and I cradled it warmly against Lord Stanley's legacy to hockey, for a picture taking. I have included that snap of Mike Bolt and myself, with the Downhome Magazine proudly on display for a Kodak moment. PS: Oh and by the way, Mike will be bringing the Cup to centre ice this upcoming spring, to be awarded to Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings.   Submitted By: NULL
