Joined at the Heart
A pillar of strength when you needed to be
Comforting hugs and a welcoming knee
Wise and invincible you were the best dad
You saw me through all the good times and the bad
You sheltered me from all manners of foe
Keeping me safe and watching me grow
And even when monsters came in the night
You always made everything turn out all right
You were a teacher without all the rules
Instilling in me life’s essential tools
You guided me along till I could stand on my own
Knowing one day I’d leave you alone
Life went by quickly and it didn’t take long
Till the time had come for me to move on
But you always knew though we were apart
A dad and his daughter are joined at the heart
You were all that a father ever could be
And I love you, Dad, for the way you loved me
You live in my memories; they’re all I have left
Of a wonderful father who was the best
