I love your magazine, with the great poems and everything else. I was born in Hr. Mille, F. Bay; I live in Chester, NS, now, but Newfoundland will always be home.

Island Home

Newfoundland just an island kissed by the sea's angry foam
When I was a child, it was here I called home
Hills rising out of the sea in coats of green
Beauty abound that many have seen
Fishing boats anchored in coves for the night
Sea birds filling the air, a wonderful sight
Fishermen away before light of day
We, left behind pray fair weather will stay
This island with rocky coastline, sea and sand
Surely must be part of our Maker's plan
Rivers running peacefully so deep and clear
Through the hardwood stand one can watch the deer
Sandy beaches we have for time at play
A house of worship in which one may pray
We Newfoundlanders think we're a happy lot
A catch of good cod fish will do for our pot
Wander I may from my Island home in the sea
Newfoundland will forever be home to me
