In Praise of Poetry
Dear Downhome:

Re: In Praise of Poetry

I am a died in the wool fan of Downhome and have been for some time. I read every issue from cover to cover. In particular I am a faithful reader and contributor to the Poetic License section of the website. I believe your publication plays an important role in encouraging budding poets to "keep the creative juices flowing," as one of your regular contributing poets (CD-L) recently remarked to me. Many of the poems submitted by poets are in praise of their NL roots, which is good to hear. Also the list of regular contributors appears to be growing, which is encouraging. I think that, although poetry may not be on the top favourite list of many of your readers it is very much worthwhile encouraging. There is a group of budding NL poets out there, and your website seems to be the only "local" venue for them to express their talents. For that we are all most appreciative.

Respectfully,

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia Submitted By: John Cornick
