If I were a Coyote
If I were a coyote I'd whistle and sing
with lots of caribou to which we can cling
Fogo Island being our new place to reside
and lots of trees into which we can hide
with plenty of rabbits and foxes to chance
we could have a ball in this island place
in rain and snow, with clouds and sun
we can keep these caribou on the run
from behind the trees we can peep out
and watch those snowmobilers racing about
we wonder are they really good to eat
and if we attacked them we would face defeat
Those A.T.V's can really roar
as we feel the tingle of the forest floor
we have four legs and they have four wheels
and they make us shudder and sometimes squeal
And then there’s the hunter with his gun
we really need to know how to run
when those bullets fly what havoc they reek
they can really harm us or put us to sleep
through forest and bog we'€™re on the run
for our next meal and that can be fun
our hunger pangs tell us what to do
as we get the scent of those caribou
We are determined and we're here to stay
and figuratively speaking we will make our hay
on Fogo Island in the northeast
with plenty of caribou on which we can fear
