Ice Angel
Last Christmas, my brother Allen and his wife Wanda were visiting from Nova Scotia. Although they return to the island each year, it was the first time in 25 years that they were home for Christmas. The day before their visit we had an ice storm and when the temperature rose the ice began to melt.
My brother and I were reminiscing of Christmases past and growing up in St. George's with our parents, siblings and family friends - the Harviews. We talked of the preparations our mother would make for the festive season and because my mother passed away 12 years ago, we were getting a little sentimental.
Sometime during the evening my brother walked past the patio door and as he glanced out he called to me. "I think this is a sign mom is here with us," he said, pointing to a plant out on the patio. The ice was melting from the plant and the figure of an angel was sitting on one of the branches.
I'm sure those of you who have lost loved ones will agree that it is on occasions such as this that you miss them and feel them close all at the same time.
I've included this photo of our ice angel. What do you think?
