HRH Prince Philip visit for John Cabot Celebrations June 24,!997.
In 1997 while serving as a V.I.P Flight Steward with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Our Crew was tasked with Transporting Prince Philip from St John’s to Gander. It was a very Short Flight about twelve minutes in duration.A nice Rain ,drizzle and foggy morn. One task I had besides serving Tea,Coffee and Biscuits was I presented The Prince with our Squadron Guest Book for him to sign.It was supposed to have a Gold Pen attached for his Signature. But much to my Chagrin the Gold Pen was A.W.O.L.So I pulled a Hotel Pen from my Pocket and the Prince and his Aid thought it was hilarious that I was having him sign the Guest Book with a Stolen Hotel Pen.It really broke the ice to share a laugh.A couple of days later we flew the Prince out to Manitoba to view The Red River Floods and I cooked and served Atlantic Salmon which He thoroughly enjoyed.By the Way The Royals eat there Salad after the main Coarse. It was fun to get home to Newfoundland for a visit as I grew up in Trepassey and my Parents were both alive then and have since passed on.Hope someone will get a smile out of this.I have a picture somewhere of me taken with Prince Philip. It is probably resting with the Gold Pen.

A Happy Retired Vet.
